Split the G ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Split the G mobile application and website (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.

1. Photos and Images

  • What: Photos of Guinness pours that you submit through the app
  • Why: To analyze and score your pour using AI, and to display on leaderboards and in your profile
  • Storage: Images are stored securely on our servers (Supabase)

2. Location Information

  • What: City, region, and country where you take a photo
  • Why: To show your pour on location-based leaderboards and find nearby bars
  • How: We collect approximate location from your device when you grant permission
  • Note: We do NOT track your precise GPS coordinates continuously - location is only captured when you take a photo

3. Account Information

  • What: Email address and username
  • Why: To create your account and allow you to sign in
  • How: We use magic link authentication (passwordless login via email)

4. Bar and Venue Information

  • What: Bar names, addresses, and ratings you provide
  • Why: To help others find great places to get a Guinness
  • Storage: Stored on our servers and displayed publicly on the app

5. Social Features

  • What: Users you follow, your followers, and your activity feed
  • Why: To enable social features and show you content from users you follow
  • Storage: Stored on our servers

6. Usage Information

  • What: How you interact with the app (pages visited, features used)
  • Why: To improve the app and fix bugs
  • Note: We do not sell or share this data with third parties for advertising

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Analyze and score your Guinness pours using AI
  • Display your submissions on leaderboards
  • Show your profile and activity to other users
  • Enable social features (following, feeds, etc.)
  • Improve the app and add new features
  • Send you important notifications about your account
  • Provide customer support

Information Sharing

We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties.

We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

Public Information

The following information is visible to other app users:

  • Your username and display name
  • Your submitted pour photos and scores
  • Bar names and ratings you provide
  • Users you follow and your followers
  • Your city/country location (NOT precise GPS)

Service Providers

We use the following trusted third-party services:

  • Supabase - Database and authentication
  • Roboflow - AI analysis of pour images
  • Google Places - Bar name and address lookup
  • Fly.io - Web hosting

These providers have access to your data only to perform services on our behalf and are obligated to protect it.

We may disclose your information if required by law or to:

  • Comply with legal processes
  • Enforce our Terms of Service
  • Protect our rights and safety
  • Respond to government requests

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

Delete Your Data

When you delete your account:

  • Your profile will be removed
  • Your submissions may remain visible but will be anonymized
  • Your email and authentication data will be deleted

You can control location access in your device settings:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Split the G

Camera Permissions

You can control camera access in your device settings:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Split the G

Children's Privacy

Split the G is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.

International Users

Your information may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States and other countries. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:
